Travel to Manchester
Ringed by the M60, Manchester is ideally close to the UK’s extensive motorway network giving easy access to all parts of the country:
Links Manchester with Leeds in the east and Liverpool in the west.
Links Manchester to Birmingham and London in the South and the Scottish border in the north.
Links Manchester Chester and North Wales in the South.
Links Manchester with Preston.
Manchester is served by two mainline railway stations, both of which are located in the City Centre. Manchester Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly together provide direct rail connections to all major UK cities; London is 3 hours away by train, Birmingham, 2 hours and Edinburgh and Glasgow, 4 hours. First NorthWestern, Arriva and Virgin Trains operate out of Manchester.

National Express Coaches travel to and from most UK city centres and take you directly into Manchester. The coach station is located on Chorlton Street. Full details of travelling by coach can be obtained from www.nationalexpress.com.
Manchester International Airport
Manchester’s International Airport is only 10km away from MICC, with daily scheduled flights connecting Manchester to all other major British cities and most European capitals. Transatlantic flights link Manchester directly with several major North American cities, and further a-field.
The airport has its own railway station with frequent services to Manchester’s Piccadilly Station. The journey takes about 25 minutes by train and run every 15 minutes. Liverpool John Lennon Airport
This up-and-coming airport is convenient from European cities via EasyJet. There are frequent buses to Manchester, which is only 30 miles (45km) away.
Piccadilly Gardens Bus Station is the hub of the urban bus network. Information about all services is available at www.gmpte.com or by phoning GMPTE Travel Line on 0871 200 22 33 (daily 8am-8pm).
Manchester is served by Metrolink, its tramway system. Metrolink provides a particularly convenient way to travel from the outskirts to the centre of Manchester and run every 6 minutes. Metrolink tickets need to be bought before boarding from ticket machines on the station platforms. MICC has it’s own Metrolink station that will take you directly to both Piccadilly and Victoria train stations. There are taxi ranks throughout the city. Main pick-up points include St Peter’s Square/Crowne Plaza-Midland Hotel, Portland Street/Piccadilly Gardens, Victoria Station and Piccadilly Station. No journey within Manchester City Centre should cost more than Â£5.
Manchester city centre is surprisingly accessible by foot. It takes no longer than 10-15 minutes to walk from one side of the city centre to the other.
